About me

Hi, I’m Matt Rizzo.

I’m a miler at heart. I’ve loved this sport for as long as I can remember: the early mornings, the travel, the teammates, and the big moments under the lights.

I ran collegiately at Georgetown University and Stanford University, two of the premier distance programs in the country. I ran 3:56.20 in the mile and raced at the highest level collegiately, by training consistently and following the plans my coaches gave me.

Along the way I earned 2nd Team All-American in the Mile and First Team All-American in the Distance Medley Relay at Stanford. Whether you’re chasing a first finish line or a personal best, the goal is the same: train smart, race brave, and enjoy the work.

How I coach

Coaching makes all the difference.

I was blessed to have excellent coaches throughout my running career. They were thoughtful, flexible, supportive, and passionate.

The best coaching I received was never one-size-fits-all. My coaches listened, adapted, believed in me, and cared deeply about the process. That example shapes how I coach today: with thought, flexibility, support, and genuine passion for each athlete’s goals.
